One fine Sunday I decided to go furniture shopping at Horizon Plaza which could be one of my favorite treasures in Hong Kong. I actually have to mentally prepare for a shopping excursion here though as it is a 26 story megaplex of furniture, clothing, and food shops! Lists also need to be made and measurements and home photos should be included to keep one on track. In addition to all the furniture spots in the 26 story building there are two shining examples of Hong Kong greatness- the Lane Crawford outlet and, of course, Sift and their amazeballs macaroons and cupcakes. One must wear very comfortable attire to tackle the Ap Lei Chau behemoth mega mall that is Horizon Plaza. The best way to accomplish a shopping mission here is to take the lift to the top and then walk the 26 floors down stopping at each floor to do a loop and see what is on offer. A fully charged fully loaded ipod is a must as is a fully belly and a purse with a cross body strap (see above). I felt overdressed for the occasion but, really, when has that stopped me before. It was surely the last day to wear boots so I popped them on knowing they would soon be banished to the depths of the winter wear in the wardrobe. To fuel my shopathon I bought a bag of rose and vanilla macaroons at the afore mentioned Sift and started my decent into level after level of outlets and bargains to be had. Though I was on a mission to find a sideboard for the dining room, I ended up picking up three silk Equipment blouses at Lane Crawford which were priced at about 70% off! I left with no furniture but has snapped a few photos of home inspiration to show to my better half. Though no new furniture was purchased, I deemed the mission a success and treated myself to a hot chocolate at pastry at the Dead End Cafe to round out a gorgeous weekend!
